Travel Hindi Practice: Quizzes & Exercises for Beginners | Hindi Roman English

 ✈️ Travel Hindi Hub — Part 18
🎯 Practice Quizzes & Exercises: Test Your Hindi Travel Skills

Learn Hindi • Roman Hindi • English | Beginner-Friendly Travel Hindi Practice

You have learned the phrases. You have learned how to ask for directions, order food, check into a hotel, talk about money, use transport, and handle simple travel situations.

But here is the real question:

Can you actually use your Hindi when you are travelling? 🌍✈️

That is what this Travel Hindi Practice Lab is designed to test.

Instead of another long vocabulary list, this lesson turns your Travel Hindi learning into a mini interactive challenge with multiple-choice questions, matching games, fill-in-the-blanks, translation practice, dialogue challenges, and real-life travel situations.

Current beginner travel-Hindi resources similarly emphasize learning phrases in practical situations rather than memorizing isolated vocabulary.

🧳 Situation 1

You are lost.

मुझे रास्ता नहीं पता।

🗣️ PART 12 — Speak It, Don't Just Read It

A common mistake in language learning is silent practice.

Don't just look at:

मुझे मदद चाहिए।

Say it aloud:

Mujhe madad chahiye.

Then say it again without looking.

🔊 3-Step Speaking Method

Round 1 — Read

मुझे मदद चाहिए।
Mujhe madad chahiye.

Round 2 — Look away

Say:

Mujhe madad chahiye.

Round 3 — Real situation

Imagine you're actually asking someone for help.

मुझे मदद चाहिए।

This method turns recognition into active recall.

🧠 PART 14 — The Memory Game

Don't memorize ten complete sentences separately.

Instead, learn reusable Hindi building blocks.

Block 1 — कहाँ है?

Kahaan hai?
= Where is...?

Add a place:

होटल कहाँ है?
Hotel kahaan hai?

स्टेशन कहाँ है?
Station kahaan hai?

बाथरूम कहाँ है?
Bathroom kahaan hai?

Block 2 — मुझे ___ चाहिए

Mujhe ___ chahiye.
= I want / need ___.

Add a word:

मुझे पानी चाहिए।
Mujhe paani chahiye.

मुझे मदद चाहिए।
Mujhe madad chahiye.

मुझे टिकट चाहिए।
Mujhe ticket chahiye.

Block 3 — कितने का है?

Kitne ka hai?
= How much is it?

Use it while shopping.

💡 Learning Trick

Instead of memorizing:

10 unrelated sentences

memorize:

3 sentence patterns + 20 useful words

Now you can create dozens of new sentences.

🏁 PART 15 — Final Travel Hindi Challenge

Let's see whether you are ready for the next level.

What time is it?

B: तीन बजे हैं।
Teen baje hain.
It's three o'clock.

B: मेरी क्लास दस बजे शुरू होती है।
Meri class das baje shuru hoti hai.
My class starts at 10 o'clock.

That's real, useful Hindi. 🗣️

1. The Most Important Word: समय

समय

Roman Hindi: samay
English: time

Example:

समय बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है।
Samay bahut mahatvapurn hai.
Time is very important.

But in everyday conversation, Hindi speakers often use वक्त (waqt) as another common word for “time.”

वक्त

waqt
time

Example:

मेरे पास समय नहीं है।
Mere paas samay nahin hai.
I don't have time.

मेरे पास वक्त नहीं है।
Mere paas waqt nahin hai.
I don't have time.

💡 Beginner Tip:
Learn both:

समय = samay = time
वक्त = waqt = time

For everyday conversation, you'll hear वक्त quite often.

2. The Most Important Question: What Time Is It?

To ask someone the time, say:

कितने बजे हैं?

Roman Hindi: Kitne baje hain?
English: What time is it?

This is one of the most useful Hindi sentences to memorize.

Word Breakdown

HindiRoman HindiEnglish

Example

कितने बजे हैं?
Kitne baje hain?

दो बजे हैं।
Do baje hain.

It's two o'clock.
3. “बजे” — Your Key Time Word ⏰

बजे

Roman Hindi: baje
English: o'clock / at a particular hour

You will use बजे constantly when talking about clock time.

Examples:

एक बजे
ek baje

at two o'clock

तीन बजे
teen baje
at three o'clock

चार बजे
chaar baje

पाँच बजे

at five o'clock

Important Pattern

Number + बजे

सात बजे
saat baje
at seven o'clock

दस बजे
das baje
at ten o'clock

बारह बजे
baarah baje
at twelve o'clock

4. Hindi Numbers for Telling Time

Before practicing the clock, let's review 1–12.

NumberHindiRoman Hindi

6छह / छःchhah / chhah
7सातsaat
8आठaath

Now combine the number with बजे.

एक बजे — ek baje — 1 o'clock

6. How to Say “At” a Specific Time

Hindi commonly uses बजे to express the time at which something happens.

Example

मैं सात बजे उठता हूँ।

I wake up at seven o'clock.

For a female speaker:

मैं सात बजे उठती हूँ।

7. Morning, Afternoon, Evening & Night 🌅🌞🌆🌙

Knowing the time isn't enough—you also need to understand when during the day.

सुबह — Subah

सुबह

सुबह सात बजे
subah saat baje
at 7 in the morning

Example:

मैं सुबह सात बजे उठता हूँ।
Main subah saat baje uthta hoon.

दोपहर — Dopahar

raat das baje
at 10 at night

Example:

मैं रात दस बजे सोता हूँ।
Main raat das baje sota hoon.
I go to sleep at 10 p.m.

8. AM and PM in Hindi

In everyday Hindi, you can often clarify the time by adding:

सुबह — morning
दोपहर — afternoon
शाम — evening
रात — night

For example:

सुबह आठ बजे
subah aath baje
8 a.m.

शाम आठ बजे
shaam aath baje
8 p.m.

This is often more natural and clearer in conversation than relying only on “AM” and “PM.”

Hindi numbers and time

9. How to Say Minutes

Now let's make your Hindi more advanced.

Suppose the time is 5:10.

You can say:

पाँच बजकर दस मिनट।
Paanch bajkar das minute.
Five ten / ten minutes past five.

A common structure is:

[Hour] बजकर [Minutes] मिनट

Examples:

तीन बजकर पाँच मिनट
Teen bajkar paanch minute
3:05

चार बजकर बीस मिनट
Chaar bajkar bees minute
4:20

सात बजकर पंद्रह मिनट
Saat bajkar pandrah minute
7:15

नौ बजकर तीस मिनट
Nau bajkar tees minute
9:30

💡 Pattern:

बजकर = past/after the hour

So:

पाँच बजकर दस मिनट
literally means approximately five hours having passed by ten minutes → 5:10.
